Acorn Squash Baby Food

Acorn Squash makes a delicious fall flavored baby food for your baby. You can also make this for your baby or toddler by omitting the water. It is a delicious treat for the whole family

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. acorn squash
  • 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning

Method

  1. Cut squash in half and remove seeds. Then scrap out the “stringy” part of the squash that had surrounded the seeds with a teaspoon. Roast halves in the oven at 400 degrees for 30 – 35 minutes, or until very tender. Let squash halves cool then scoop out of the skins and put in blender or saucepan. Add nutmeg. Add 1 cup of water and start to blend.
  2. Then use a submersible blender to puree. Add a little water slowly if needed till the desired consistency is achieved. Pureeing can also be done in batches in the blender. Let mixture cool, then poor into ice cube trays, be careful not to overfill individual ice cube compartments. Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight, then you can store each baby food cube in zippered freezer bags.

How brilliant?! Acorn and poultry seasoning!? I never used such spices/flavors in my baby’s acorn squash…she probably would have enjoyed it a bit more had I added some complimentary flavors!

Treating a baby to seasonings, great way to get them to eat baby food. I swear some of these grocery baby foods just don’t taste that great and yet we still feed them to our children. The world is crazy sometimes.

Howdy! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could get a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!

Hello there! I know this is kinda off topic but I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa? My site covers a lot of the same subjects as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other. If you happen to be interested feel free to shoot me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Terrific blog by the way!
