Bacon Wrapped Hearts of Palm with Caramelized Shallot and Olive Dip

This post sponsored by Reese Specialty Foods. All thoughts and opinions 100% mine.

Christmas this year is going to be so special for our family. We’ve got a newborn son that was born just before Thanksgiving that we are so in love with. My other 2 kids are fighting over the baby right now, with my daughter often running to me shouting that her older brother “isn’t sharing the baby.”

This past Thanksgiving we did something we’ve never done before, we actually didn’t cook. Because I had the baby just a few days before the holiday, we decided to just order dinner from a restaurant just down the street from us. It was a weird feeling, waking up on Thanksgiving and not preparing the Turkey or prepping all the sides and desserts, but we went with it. We had a super lazy day with a delicious restaurant meal we served at home.

Since we didn’t cook for Thanksgiving, we’re going all out for Christmas. We have family coming over and we’re going to have a delicious meal cooked by the whole family. Tomato there’s nothing more special than all standing around the kitchen, with everyone cooking together. Each family member, even the kids are in charge of their own dish, or 2! And everything just comes together in the end in now amazing family cooked spectacular meal.

One thing I want to do different this year is to pick recipes for everyone, and have everyone make their own recipe, and put their own spin on it if they want! This way all the dishes kind of go together too, and I can easily shop for everything at once to make all of our dishes.

The appetizer featured above, Bacon Wrapped Hearts of Palm with a Caramelized Shallot and Olive Dip is there recipe I’ve created for Christmas dinner. I can’t wait to make this, it’s going to be awesome!

I’ve also made a DishList of all the other recipes I want to make too for the big holiday. All of these recipes are from the Reese Specialty Foods website.

We’re going to start with a Whiskey Cherry Crush. I can’t wait to try this and serve it as our signature cocktail! My husband will be making this one!

In addition to the appetizer I make, I wanted to try this one too, a Caramelized Onion Anchovy Tart. This just looks too good!

And we have to have a salad. Oranges are a favorite in our family, so I”ll have may son make this simple Orange and Avocado Salad.

For a main dish, I love making Cornish game hens for everyone, so I was so excited to find this recipe for Herb Rubbed Cornish Hens. I can’t wait to make them!

Talk about dressed up potatoes, this Spicy Potato Salad is the perfect side for the Herb Rubbed Cornish Game Hens.

Our family loves butter beans, so I know this recipe for Skillet Broccolini Butter Beans  is going to be a hit too!

I just have to have 3 slides when we entertain on the holidays, and this Skillet Brussel Sprouts Au Gratin just looks too good to pass up.

I absolutely adore chocolate covered cherries at Christmas, but have never made my own. I’m going to make these Chocolate Coated Cherries with the kids a few days before. Hopefully there will be some left over!

This recipe for Grandma’s Creamy Custard looks like perfection. I can’t wait share this dessert!

But back to the recipe that I created, these Bacon Wrapped Hearts of Palm with Caramelized Shallot and Olive Dip. This recipe is a lot easier than it sounds and is perfect for celebrations. Hearts of palm are not only delicious in salads, but are great in appetizer recipes like this one too.

This recipe is really super simple. Just start by cutting the hearts of palm in half and wrapping bacon around them. Then just bake at 350° until the bacon is crisp.

For the dip, just combine mayonnaise, sour cream, some caramelized shallots, onion powder and diced olives. For garnish, I add some fresh thyme and a few more chopped olives. That’s it!
