Grilled Buffalo Wings with Avocado Blue Cheese Dip

This post brought to you by Avocados from Mexico. All opinions are 100% mine.

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here! It’s this coming Sunday, February 3. I’ve been experimenting for weeks with different types of wing  recipes and dips. This is my latest dip, an incredible avocado blue cheese dip to accompany my favorite grilled wings.

I’ve made hot wings many different ways, and grilling them has got to be my favorite. They turn out crisp, juicy and delicious every time. I use my gas grill on the lowest heat setting, but you can also use a charcoal grill with indirect heat. Alternatively, a deep fryer set at 350°also makes delicious and crispy wings. Baking wings is also pretty good, but you can’t get them quite as crisp. I like to also bake wings at 350°. It’s quick and easy, but they don’t always turn out as crisp as they do in the deep fryer or on the grill.

Since we all have avocados in our homes for game day guacamole, I wanted to offer you a unique dip for your wings too that has the creamy goodness of avocados. This blue cheese avocado combination is an incredible combination that your friends and family will love, and would make a great third selection dip to traditional blue cheese and ranch dressings.

Ingredients:

For the Wings:
24 wings, split and tips removed
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
salt and pepper as needed
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup hot sauce, like Franks

For the Dip:
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1 avocado from Mexico, halved, pitted and peeled
1 cup crumbled Blue cheese
1 clove garlic
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup celery leaves
1 tablespoon lime juice

Directions:

Heat grill between 350° - 400°. Add salt, pepper, smoked paprika on garlic powder to wings. Toss well to coat with seasonings and place on hot grill. Grill for 10 - 15 minutes per side, or until wings are deep golden brown and crisp.

While wings are cooking, combine melted butter and hot sauce in a small bowl and set aside.

Combine all ingredients for dip in food processor or blender. Pulse on high until well combined.

Toss grilled wings in hot sauce and butter and serve with Avocado blue cheese dip, carrots and celery.
