I am always on the hunt for quick and easy recipes that will encourage my young daughter to try new things. I thought I was this great, super mom that was able to create kids that would eat anything (my son is quite possibly the best eater ever). However, my daughter has taught me I know absolutely nothing about how to encourage diverse eating in children.

My daughter is such a picky eater, I can’t even get her to eat simple cheese pizza or cheeseburgers yet. Things that other kids love, she will consistently cover her mouth and yell “yucky”. To try and get her to eat different foods, I make things cute. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. But you know what they say, we eat first with our eyes.

So I do whatever I can to keep dinner visually appealing and keep a smile on my daughter’s little face at dinnertime and encourage her to eat more things than just apples, fries and chicken nuggets. I recently found these super adorable McCain® Smiles® Regular Mashed Potato Shapes at Walmart and have been incorporating them in fun and kid-friendly recipes.

Here I have simply made these McCain Smiles into little kid sized cheeseburgers. Aren’t they adorable? And the taste is absolutely amazing. They are soft, crisp and so tasty. They are perfect for little hands and put smiles on children’s faces!

To make these, just start with either baking or deep frying the McCain Smiles.

While they are cooking, I make mini sized burgers and cook them in a skillet, and then add a little lettuce to the McCain Smiles.

Next a little mild cheddar.

Then some sliced tomato and a little ketchup, mustard or other condiment of your or your kids’ choice.

Then top them with another McCain Smiles.

Aren’t they super cute? Your kids will love how cute the smiles are and how delicious they taste too.

I love to make McCain Smiles for different fun dinner recipes as well as after school snacks. They make a perfect afternoon snack for hungry kids and pair perfectly with chicken nuggets. Kids love to dunk them in different sauces too like ketchup, ranch and bbq sauce.

McCain Smiles Regular Mashed Potato Shapes are made with real potatoes and contain no artificial flavors. You can incorporate these cute little smiles in lots of different recipes or use them for entertaining at kid’s parties, afternoon snacks or for family game night too. McCain Smiles are so delicious that adults love them too, but be sure to save some for the kids!

I found McCain Smiles Regular Mashed Potato Shapes in the freezer department of my local Walmart. McCain also makes Extra Crispy Crinkle Fries, Seasoned Curly Fries and Craft Beer Battered Thin Cut Fries that are all so good and make perfect dinner sides.

These mini cheeseburgers would make such fun appetizers at a family party with kids or for family game night to snack on. They are sure to put a smile on the kid’s faces as well as the adults too.
