I find your article astonishing on several points.
My daughter linked me here for a good chuckle.

I drink oolong tea almost daily. I make my own iced tea at home, because it's cheaper than buying it, and I have learned to enjoy it far less sweetened than commercial iced tea drinks.
I make at least half a gallon of tea a day. I have, for weeks at a time, consumed half a gallon of oolong tea myself, every day!

I have never, ever, experienced what you're describing about oolong tea.
Perhaps you and your family simply have an uncommon sensitivity - perhaps to the caffeine.

In fact, even though you know a happy skinny woman and an unpleasant heavyset woman who both agree that oolong is a laxative, I will confess that I don't think I have ever met anyone who has claimed (or even suggested) that it was.
Judging from my tea habits and yours, I suspect I might know more people than you do who drink it.

I also find it incredible that you were not immediately able to notice the difference between chamomile and oolong tea once you tasted your brew.
It's like the difference between... apples and dirt. I cannot imagine taking one sip and saying "oh, this... this isn't chamomile" any more than I could imagine mistaking Pepsi for Root Beer.

:-))) I drink Oolong tea daily....and I have been drinking it since I was still a kid. I come from Fujian where Oolong tea is produced, and almost every household in Fujian has one or two or more tea sets at home. Whenever we have guests, or even just stopping-by neighbours, TEA would be best treat together with some tea snacks...every one drinks tea, I mean the real tea, without sugar, without milk...However, the best weight-losing tea is actually Puer tea, which comes from Yunnan province. One of my co-workers lost about 5kg just drinking Puer tea for about 1 month.

Wow, what is really oolong tea? I experienced that before. The label says green tea but after a few hours, I experienced the same thing. Mom was also taking a slimming tea but it didn't say that it was oolong. Now, I'm having oolong tea while at Chinese restaurant only a drink along with the food but never experience any cramps or any visits to the bathroom. But there are so many types of oolong. I wonder what type of oolong tea you have. But I don't want to experience that ever again most especially that I'm not aware what I'm drinking. :D
