There’s one day a week that me and all my mom friends and I never look forward too, and that’s grocery shopping day. We dread it because we always have at least one little one that’s trying their best to be a good helper, but is just being annoying. We dread it because there’s always someone that comments if we have more than one kid how full our hands are. And we dread it because we always forget at least one key item that results in another run to the store!

Well a few weeks ago I decided to turn the dreaded grocery store shopping day into a day that I actually looked forward to. I decided to wake up with a positive attitude about it, no matter what. I also decided to make a meal planning list, to stay within a budget and to make plans to help occupy my little helpers as I shopped.

One thing I do to encourage good behavior from my kids is to promise to buy them one treat for being good in the store. That could be a special snack they don’t get to have very often, a sweet treat from the deli, or sometimes a special fruit like a large watermelon. Or there favorite, some delicious cheese to share.
