My family loves freshly baked breads and rolls and so do I. There’s something incredibly special about making fresh breads. Working the dough, waiting for it to rise and baking it to perfection is so much fun! And when the smell of freshly baked bread fills my home, there’s no better feeling.
I make fresh bread almost every week, whether it’s a basic white loaf or a fresh pizza dough. It’s something easy to do, and when you use products like Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast, it doesn’t take that long at all!
For special Sunday suppers, or when I entertain, I love to make fresh yeast rolls. My kids love them and they’re always a huge hit if we’re entertaining. They’re easy, only take a few ingredients and are so incredibly delicious!
Because our family’s favorite bagels are Everything bagels, I got obsessed with Everything Bagel seasoning. I got a bottle of it a few months ago and have been experimenting and using it on so many different things. This past weekend, I decided to use my Everything bagel seasoning on some Parker House Rolls and the results were absolute perfection!
Parker House rolls are delectable little rolls made with milk and butter. The dough is folded over before baking and they puff into delectable little buttery things. The taste of the dough pairs perfectly with the seasoning and they bake up to absolute perfection.
For this recipe, you start by adding the Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast, a portion of the flour and the sugar to your stand mixer. Then you combine the milk, water and butter in a microwave safe container and heat it in 10 second intervals on high in the microwave until it reaches 120° – 130°.
Use a thermometer and be sure to stay in this temperature range only. Over-heating can damage the yeast and ruin the recipe. Under-heating makes the rise take longer than the recipe states.
If you don’t have a thermometer, just make sure the liquid is warm, but not hot! Then you add in the flour and knead the dough in your stand mixer until the dough comes together. Then let it rise in a warm place. But don’t worry, this won’t take long. Just let the dough rise for just 10 minutes! You’ve got 10 minutes for homemade yummy rolls, don’t you!?
Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast is a great way to make homemade delicious baked goods like this fast and easy. If you have never made baked goods with yeast before, don’t stress! It’s super easy. Just make sure your yeast is not expired. Expired yeast means it’s no longer active and will not rise your dough. When the dough is kneaded, just place it in a bowl and cover it to let it rise.
When the dough is done, turn it out on a work surface that’s been greased like this and but it into 16 sections.
Then just make a bunch of dough rectangles and brush them with butter.
Next, sprinkle on that yummy Everything bagel seasoning.
Then just fold over.
And butter and sprinkle them again!
Then put them in a baking dish.
This is what you’ll end up with before it bakes.
Be sure to get Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast It’s a specially formulated type of yeast that can be added to the dry parts of a recipe and then liquid added later. I like to think of it as a magical yeast that doesn’t need that rehydrating AND blooming process that takes so long like regular active yeast does.
For recipes, stick to recipes straight from the brand on the Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast site. They have recipe developers that make recipes specifically for the brand and they work the best. The recipe that I have included below is a slight variation of the Beginner Dinner Rolls recipe from Fleischmann’s®. It’s easy, delicious and can be customized to your own personal tastes!
You can see my little rolls aren’t perfect. I’m not a professional baker! I’m just a mom that loves to bake. I love to mix, knead and work the dough with my hands. I love to have the little hands of my kids shape that dough with me. It gives kids such joy to work bread dough and such pride to see it transformed into delectable treats like these.
These rolls aren’t perfectly shaped at a factory, but you know what? They were made with love in my kitchen, and nothing tastes better than homemade. My family and friends are too overwhelmed with the beautiful aroma of my homemade breads to ever care about if it looks picture perfect or not.
With Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast, they help my delicious homemade breads like these yummy rolls come to life. They have over 150 years of experience that allows me to bake quality, recipes that I’m proud to share. And with Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast, I can make homemade treats in even less time! For me, sharing home-baked goods is the best way I express my love for others. It’s a way for me to say what words can’t.

method: Baked course: Breads
cuisine: American diet: Enjoyable
Ingredients:
- 2 to 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 (2-1/4 tsp.) packet Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk (whole, 2%, 1% OR skim)
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
Directions:
Combine 3/4 cup flour, sugar, dry yeast and salt in a large mixer bowl and stir until blended. Combine milk, water and butter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH in 15 second increments until very warm but not hot to the touch (120° to 130°F. Butter won’t melt completely).
Add to flour mixture. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally. Add 1/4 cup flour; beat 2 minutes at high speed. Stir in just enough of the remaining flour (1 to 1-1/4 cups) so that the dough will form into a ball.
Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic and springs back when lightly pressed with 2 fingers, about 6 to 8 minutes. Cover with a towel; let rest for 10 minutes.
Cut dough into 16 equal pieces; shape into small rectangles.
Brush with butter and top with Everything Bagel seasoning. Fold dough over to make little squares and brush again with butter and sprinkle with more Everything Bagel seasoning.
Place in greased 11 x 7 inch baking dish. Cover with towel; let rise in warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
Bake in preheated 375ºF oven for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan by running a knife around the edges and invert onto wire rack; brush with additional melted butter, if desired. Serve warm.
