Bacon, Jalapeno and Tomato Pizza
If you like spicy foods as much as I do, I’ve got an amazing spicy pizza to share with you today. This is a bacon, jalapeno and cheddar cheese pizza. It has all the things we love about bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, except in pizza form.
This would be a great pizza to make on a game night for a party, and make a second less spicy pizza for the kids, maybe just bacon and tomato.
For this pizza, I also used Pillsbury’s Artisan pizza crust. It’s a great shortcut ingredient. This crust bakes up perfectly, and is loaded with whole grains, so pizza night isn’t completely unhealthy.
If you love the sound of this pizza, but want something a little less spicy, just replace the jalapenos with those small sweet snacking peppers. Those peppers have almost zero heat, but are still full of flavor and would be perfect on this pizza.
Yield: 4 servings
Bacon, Jalapeno and Tomato Pizza
Ingredients:
1 can (13.8 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated artisan pizza crust with whole grain
1/4 cup Muir Glenn pizza Sauce
2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
2 medium jalapenos, sliced
2 medium roma tomatoes, sliced
8 strips bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
Directions:
Heat oven to 400°. Roll dough out onto cookie sheet and press until desired thickness. Spread pizza sauce on top of dough and then sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of the cheese over sauce. Top with remaining ingredients and finish with the remaining 1/2-cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
Bake pizza for 18 – 20 minutes, or until golden brown around edges.
Tips:
For extra heat, add a few sliced fresh chili peppers.
To make a mild version of this pizza, replace the jalapeno peppers with bell or sweet snacking peppers.
