Spring is such a wonderful time for making things better again. I always think of it as a time not only for cleaning and reorganizing my home, but also for a time to reorganize myself. This is especially true during the season of Lent. In our family, Lent is a time to reflect upon ourselves and focus on reconnecting with friends and family and making more meaningful moments for our family and dear friends.
As Lent begins, we’ll be spending more time with family, sharing good food and drinks like this yummy Bloody Caesar. A Bloody Caesar is Bloody Mary’s close cousin, but instead of being prepared with tomato juice, you use Clamato®, a zesty and flavorful tomato cocktail. Clamato Original has a rich, delicious flavor that gives Bloody Caesar cocktails their irresistible flavor.
This is the perfect cocktail to enjoy as the weather starts to warm. The Bloody Caesar is a Canadian cocktail that became popular as our northern neighbors made their way south, seeking warm sunshine during the winter months. They may head back north after winter ends, but we will be enjoying this refreshing cocktail throughout Lent and the rest of spring!
To make a Bloody Caesar you start by wiping a tall glass rim with a lime wedge and rimming the glass with celery salt.
Next fill the glass with ice and in a separate mixing glass, combine Clamato Original with vodka, Worcestershire, hot sauce, and horseradish. Mix it well and pour into the tall glass.
One of the other elements that sets apart the Bloody Caesar from the Bloody Mary is the garnish, so feel free to go a little overboard. With Bloody Caesars, it’s all about the garnish. Here I have added assorted pickled veggies and a leafy stalk of celery. If you feel really inspired you could also add a cocktail shrimp, a lobster tail or even candied bacon! I was able to find all of the ingredients needed for this recipe while doing my weekly shopping at my local Publix.
Clamato Original is an authentic tomato cocktail that adds a little spice to all your parties and get-togethers. It’s a versatile ingredient you can use in lots of different seafood dishes like ceviche and fun cocktails like this Bloody Caesar, Micheladas or Proud Marys.
These Bloody Caesar cocktails would be perfect to serve on Fridays during Lent with all those yummy fish and seafood dishes we serve during Lent. You can add Clamato Original to shrimp cocktails, shrimp ceviche or add it to mussels and even to gazpacho.
You can find Clamato in the juice aisle at your local Publix.
