These easy to make Deep Fried Stuffing Balls are perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas! They are filled with apple, celery, onion and seasonings that make them incredibly flavorful! Serve with cranberry sauce for dipping and enjoy!
Thanksgiving is less than a week away, and I’m so excited. I’m getting my menu planned out for the big day, and testing out some fun new recipes. I still need to do the grocery shopping for the big day though. I like to do it the day before, there’s nothing like waiting till the last minute. I’d like to stay I have a strategy, but in all honesty, I’m just a huge procrastinator.
When it comes to our Thanksgiving menu, we like to change things up a bit. Instead of roasting, we always grill or smoke the turkey bird, and we never stuff it! I don’t even like the dressing in a casserole dish anymore after having perfected these little bite-sized fried stuffing balls. So now we always fry the stuffing, kind of like little fish puppies, but made with stuffing mix!
We actually jokingly call these stuffing puppies in our house. My son thinks the name is hilarious. They do resemble hush puppies don’t you think? Except they taste even better, if that’s even possible! And the best part is that they are perfectly crunchy and crispy. This way everyone get crispy stuffing, instead of fighting over it!
For more flavor I added apple, celery and onion to these, but you can add whatever stuffing add-ins are your favorite. You can even make them with sausage and fresh herbs. Just add your favorite flavors to make them your own.
After mixing the stuffing with all the ingredients, I used a cookie scoop to form the balls, and then rolled them in my hands. After they were all formed, I deep fried them in a skillet at 350° until they were nice and golden brown.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as our family does and have a Happy Holiday!
