Do More With Your Dollar and Help Improve Kids Reading Skills
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Purina for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
This is my son, and his dog, Coco. When Coco’s not attached to my hip, he can be found with Julien. He’s such a good dog, and a great family pet. He helps teach my son responsibility, patience, and even helps him to read.
My son has blossomed into a great reader over the past year. I buy him books and try and encourage him to read whenever possible. He’s also brought books home from the library and we’ve bought some of our favorite books at the bookstore.
Another way we’ve improved his reading is to encourage him to read to Coco, our family dog. Coco and him spend a lot of time together. He’s a wonderful dog that loves to play in the yard and swim around in the pool as much as he loves to cuddle.
Here’s Julien reading one of his favorites, The Cat in the Hat to Coco. Did you know that studies have shown that when children read to pets, their reading skills & confidence improve. That’s amazing right? Maybe that’s why his teacher brags about what a great reader he is when he reads aloud in class?

Well, I guess that bedtime story really worked on Coco. Hopefully Julien’s reading will have the same affect on his little sister in a few months! Do you have any pictures of your little ones reading to their pets? Be sure to share them on social media and tag @Purina and @DollarGeneral!
