Eating Local – FishBones
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Fresh From Florida for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
Central Florida may be known for our famous theme parks, but did you also know we have some pretty great restaurant options too? My family and I love to try out new restaurants every chance we get because there are so many wonderful options in our area.
We have a growing number of restaurants that offer fresh Florida seafood, produce and locally raised meats too! Eating local is very important to our family, and it’s pretty easy because we live in Florida. Because our temperatures are mild, our growing season is all year long. And that makes it super simple to choose local fresh produce at the grocery store and at some of our favorite restaurants too!
There are lots of Florida restaurants now that participate in Fresh From Florida menu program. This is where you can see the famous Fresh From Florida logo beside those Local Florida grown seafood and and produce menu items. This past weekend my family and I had the opportunity to visit FishBones. It’s just a short drive from our house right off the famous I-Drive in Orlando near the attractions. We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and we’re so glad we finally got to visit. The exterior of the restaurant was so cute, take a look at that fish, how adorable!
The front door even had fishing reels.
The cooks working the citrus and oak wood fired grill are never too busy not to say hello. These are some hard working guys!
The interior of the restaurant was gorgeous too. It was perfectly decorated in such a comfortable way.
The restaurant has the perfect feel for a romantic night with your better half as well as a fun family night out. I just loved all the details that went into the design of the restaurant. There were several cocktails on the menu that featured the Fresh From Florida logo, so we had to try them. I got the Sparkling Sangria.
And my husband got the Smoked Pineapple Sunset.
They were both delicious, but we decided to trade about halfway through, isn’t the grass always greener? For an appetizer we had the shrimp cocktail and gator bites.
The shrimp disappeared as fast as they hit the table, so I didn’t get a picture. They were amazing though! They were served on top of crispy fried tostones. They were amazing. And the gator was actually cooked correctly, tender and moist. Both of these items are Fresh From Florida.
For entrees, I got the crab stuffed grouper, a local option, and my husband got the filet and a lobster tail.
They were both delicious and cooked to perfection. That citrus and oak wood fired grill really makes everything taste so good too. And the smell, so wonderful! The restaurant does have a simple kids menu, but I’ve never let my son order off a kids menu, there’s so may delicious kid friendly items on the regular menu. Instead, my kids split a Blackened Chicken Alfredo, and the plate was so big, they took the other half home for lunch the next day.
For desert they have a Key Lime Pie with a macadamia nut crust that’s the perfect Florida dessert. But we just couldn’t resist the double chocolate Grand Mariner cake. The combination of the dark chocolate and orange is just too irresistible. And what better flavor to pair with chocolate in Florida than orange. It’s so delicious!
