Grilled Apple Galette

Desserts have been pretty simple in our house the past few weeks. We’ve resorted to just snacking on dark chocolate here and there. Not being able to get to my oven, or pull out my stand mixer has definitely threw a wrench in my baking. So since I ran out of dark chocolate, and needed a sweet fix, I decided to make something sweet on the grill today.

This is just a simple apple galette made with a refrigerated pie crust and canned pie filling. It’s so, so easy. It would be the perfect no fail dessert to make for a BBQ or family gathering. If you want to change it up a bit, top with chopped walnuts, or stir in some raisins, craisins, or liquor into the pie filling before pouring it into the pie crust. If adding liquor, just add 2 tablespoons.

For garnish, I added turbinado sugar to the crust, and sprinkled some cinnamon on top. This is such a simple all-American classic dessert that would definitely be a crowd-pleaser for any summer gathering. Just serve warm with creamy vanilla ice cream.
