I’m so happy to be a part of the Love What’s Real campaign (sponsored by Milk Life). Today I’m sharing my story of how we shared the news of our new baby with the family. Be sure to scroll below for information on how to enter the “Love What’s Real” Sweepstakes too!

The past couple of months since our new baby boy was born have been pure bliss. I was always apprehensive about having a third child, but now that we’re a family of 5, it just feels so right. He fits right in with our family and our other 2 kids just adore him. He’s such a joy in fact, we may just try for another little cutie!

I’ll never forget how we told our children the good news about baby Logan. Last February when I found out I was pregnant, we decided to tell the kids right away. We were so excited, and we just couldn’t wait to share the good news.

We both got up early on a Saturday morning and proceeded to make our usual weekend breakfast, which is also one of our favorites, biscuits and gravy. My kids absolutely love buttermilk biscuits with creamy sausage gravy. I usually also add a fried egg on top too. It’s so good!

Well anyway, as we were sitting down to our yummy breakfast, we broke the news to the kids that we we’re expecting a new baby. We explained to our little girl, who had just turned three at the time, that there was a little baby growing in Mommy’s tummy. She was beyond ecstatic. My son was so happy too, his first question was, “Will I finally have a little brother?”

It was so exciting for my husband and I because we’ve been together since high school, and then nearly 25  years later to be expecting another little bundle of joy, along with our other two sweet children.

Sharing  wonderful news like a new baby is something we do at meal times. Having a wonderful home-cooked meal and sharing our days, exciting news, or just making plans for the day is what we love to do.

And part of our home-cooked everyday meals is milk. I always serve milk at breakfast for everyone, and for the kids to drink at lunch and dinner too. Milk is also part of our favorite recipes, like the biscuits and gravy featured in this post. It also makes my homemade oatmeal, sweet waffles and quiche absolutely amazing. And for fast breakfasts, nothing beats a quick smoothie made with fresh milk and yummy fruits.

For dinner recipes I love to use milk in creamy soups and decadent pasta recipes. I also use buttermilk in my fried chicken and fish recipes. And of course all those yummy dessert recipes just wouldn’t be the same without the goodness of milk. Everything from simple homemade puddings to cakes, creamy pies and ice cream are made better with milk!

And I bet milk is part of your happy moments too! Did you know a new AI-fueled image recognition study found that milk was one of the most shared foods on Instagram? Isn’t that amazing to think one in every four food posts contains milk?

In our family, we rely on the simple, common sense nutrition that real dairy provides. It’s wholesome, affordable and it’s farm-to-table. It also has three key nutrients that are super important to kids and adults – calcium, Vitamin D and potassium.
