Oatmeal Crème Pie Tiramisu

When I was a kid my Dad owned this little corner gas store. It was one of those little convenience stores from the past. It was a full service gas station that had a wide array of snacks, sodas, little groceries and other goodies. My Dad had pickled things in jars lining in the counter. My mom would bake homemade biscuits, cookies and handpies to sell at the counter. The smell of smoked sausage and steamed in beer and made locally (literally next door at a meat market) filled the air and could make anyone’s mouth water.
At that little store is where I first learned to run a cash register, count change, watch for ever strangers that might shoplift, pump gas and check oil. See we were also a full-service gas station, and while most younger people just pumped their own gas, older people expected the full service. And that’s where I came in. I would pump gas, check oil, wash windshields. I was quite the tomboy in a ponytail. I use to work there in the summers and after school, that was until changing EPA regulations forced the little station to shut down.
One of my favorite memories from that little store was coming there after school. My Dad would always let me have just one little sweet treat, and I couldn’t resist the corner rack with the Little Debbie® treats. He has every treat they made and I got to choose whichever one I was in the mood for that day. I would usually be drawn to the Swiss Rolls or Banana Twins. They were so good. But if my mom was there, she would always tell me to get an Oatmeal Creme Pie, because it had oatmeal in it.
After the store closed, my mom would still get a package of those Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies almost every week. They were such treat that my whole family loved. And now I still share those little creme pies with my son and daughter. They both love them. The soft cookie and sweet cream is so delicious and comforting, and makes a great after-school surprise treat.
When Little Debbie® contacted me about partnering with them for their #SweetMemoriesGiveaway I was so excited. They really are one of my all-time favorite brands. I was also excited that I got to incorporate a product that I love into a new recipe. My husband, with his Sicilian heritage, first thoughts were to incorporate our favorite Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pies into a beautiful, creamy tiramisu.
So I made this really simple tiramisu. You don’t have to use eggs, cook it or beat the cream. Just combine some cream cheese, sugar, coffee, vanilla and whipped topping. It’s really that simple. Then layer the cream cheese mixture with a few Little Debbie® Oatmeal Crème Pies in a wine glass. Just top with shipped topping and ten garnish with a little cocoa powder.
This makes a beautiful and elegant dessert that tastes incredible. It’s easy enough that the kids can help make it too. My son loved to help me assemble these. But it’s also elegant enough, served in these wine glasses, you can serve dinner party guests. If you want to make it more kid friendly, be sure to use decaffeinated coffee.

Yield: serves 4
Oatmeal Crème Pie Tiramisu
- 12 Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pies
- 1 8 oz. package cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons very strong coffee
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 oz frozen and defrosted whipped topping
- 1/2 cup additional frozen and defrosted whipped topping for garnish
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder for garnish
Combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, strong coffee and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer well to combine. Fold in COOL WHIP until incorporated.
Place one cookie in 4 stemless wine glasses. Place cream cheese mixture in a pastry bag or a large gallon sized plastic storage bag. Cut the corner of the bag so that the width that you cut is 1/2 inch, creating a 1 inch diameter hole.
Pipe the cream cheese mixture onto the first cookie, and top with another cookie, add more cream cheese and another cookie. Top with additional COOL WHIP and garnish with cool powder.
