It’s football season! Time to get your grill ready. Hands down, this is my favorite food time of year. I have to admit I don’t know a whole lot about football, but I sure do love football foods. My husband is more of the sports fan, while I make all the yummy game time foods.
My father-in-law is also a huge football fan, but he’s a vegetarian. I love the challenge of making nutritious and delicious game time items when he’s over at our house watching the game. I also love that I have an excuse to make something healthier for me to0, because at least 2 of us will be eating the vegetarian dish!
MorningStar Farms® has lots of great products perfect for not only vegetarians but those of us who enjoy easy go-to items that are a little healthier! If you get creative, there’s so many healthier recipes you can make that are perfect for vegetarian tailgate parties.
Since I love to grill, most of my football foods are cooked in our outdoor kitchen on the grill. It’s great to get out of the house to cook on the grill, especially when you have company over. The house doesn’t heat up and all the mess is outside!
This is a great recipe to make to make for family get-togethers, especially during the football season. For this recipe I start by baking big russet baking potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil out on the grill. Baked potatoes on the grill are always 100% better than in the oven or the microwave.
After the potatoes are done, I get my toppings ready. I start with MorningStar Farms® Veggie Pulled Pork, a wonderful NEW PRODUCT you have to try! It tastes amazing and is completely vegetarian. It’s also a great product if you’re looking for a healthier option to traditional pulled pork.
Just heat your MorningStar Farms® Veggie Pulled Pork according to package directions, either in a skillet or in the microwave. I like to use a cast iron skillet on my grill for this part.
Next I get some BBQ sauce (your favorite brand will work), some sour cream, cheddar cheese, and chives or green onions. Then just open up your baked potatoes and top them with MorningStar Farms® Veggie Pulled Pork. Then drizzle on some BBQ sauce, sprnkle some cheddar cheese and add a dollop of sour cream. Garnish with some green onions or chives and you’re done!
There are also many other MorningStar Farms® products that you can incorporate into your healthier and vegetarian recipes. These ingredients are great solutions for all your home gating parties to make everyone happy this football season.

The hot dogs are perfect for all the picky eating kiddos, and these loaded baked potatoes are perfect for the adults. I just love how these baked potatoes look like little footballs too, so cute!
