It’s time for Friday night pizza again! And today we’re going with the good old stand-by, plain pepperoni and cheese. But not just any ordinary pepperoni and cheese, since the pizza was plain I wanted to really jazz up the crust. So for this crust, I added ranch seasonings and sesame seeds, and then a little melted butter after it came out of the oven.
I made the pizza with my favorite quick and easy pizza crust – Pillsbury pizza crust. Using the canned dough makes the pizza come together in a snap. And the best part is, jazzing up this crust is so easy, your kids can easily help out with, or even make it themselves if they’re a little older.
I made a big tossed salad to go along with this pizza packed with fresh spring greens, spinach, and peppers. It was such a nice, simple pizza to enjoy while watching movies. Later we had popcorn and hot chocolate – it was a great evening in!
Yield: Serves 8
1 (11 oz) package Pillsbury thin crust pizza dough
1/2 cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella
1 cup sliced pepperoni
1 tablespoon dried ranch dressing salad dressing and seasoning mix
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
2 tablespoons melted butter (to brush the crust with)
Heat oven to 400°. Stretch dough to the size of a jelly roll pan. Spread pizza sauce over dough. Sprinkle 2 cups of the shredded cheese over sauce. Top with pepperoni. Sprinkle the crust with dried ranch seasoning and sesame seeds. Bake at 400° for 10 - 15 minutes, or until cheese has melted and pizza is starting to brown around the edges.
Garnish the pizza by brushing the crust with melted butter.
