My First Awards

My First Awards
I was so happy and surprised to receive my very first award. Thanks so much to Jodi & Patricia from Two Girls Cooking for passing the Kreative Blogger award to me. I have had so much fun at this site, sharing my recipes. And I have had so much more fun visiting everyone else’s wonderful sites, and learning so much more than I ever thought I would. I have become a lover of not only food, but also photography, writing, and web design.

Next I have to share seven things about me that you probably don’t know know:

  1. In school I was part of the chicken judging team, part of the parliamentary procedure team, a clogger, and captain of the color guard. I was persuaded to be part of the Math team, but thought that would make me a nerd. HELLO?
  2. Before I met my husband, I had plans to join the Peace Corp.
  3. I secretly love cars. I love aftermarket performance parts. I have to have a stick, and adore American muscle and German precision. I have a fun unsuspecting sleeper. I don’t care for Asian cars with $15 mufflers, fancy paint jobs, and race stickers.
  4. I’d rather be outside, working on the car with my husband, working in the yard, boating, hiking, swimming, at the beach, at the park, anything. A summer kitchen is a must in our next home.
  5. I don’t care for watching sports. I respect all sports and athleticism very much, and I like to participant in some sports, but not as a spectator, just not my thing.
  6. I love a rainy night, Eddie Rabbit, and well, the rain at night too and overcast days. I like 70′s and 80′s country (Meet me in Montana), nineties alternative and rock (Machine Head, our song), and now I am into artists like  Harry Connick, Jr., Michael Buble, and Natasha Bedingfield.
  7. I never say anything rude without first being provoked; I don’t say anything if I don’t have something nice to say, unless I was provoked of course (some days I am provoked easily).

I’ll nominate these 7 delicious blogs:

  1. Paper Apron
  2. Drick’s Rambling Cafe
  3. Sense and Serendipity
  4. Five Star Foodie
  5. Amy Ruth Bakes
  6. Angie’s Recipes

I have really enjoyed reading through everyone’s blogs. There are so many great one’s out there. There just is never enough time in the day to get to all the great food and cooking blogs.

I would also like to say that I thought of about 20 more blogs after nominating these few off the top of my head. I wish the rules were that I can nominate everyone. Congratulations on the awards Angie. You deserve both of it. I totally agree there are so many blogs out there and it’s really hard to choose. Sometimes I fail to read some of them. And I am honored to receive this award from you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hey girl, congrats on your first award! I was with you about working on the cars and driving a stick back in the day!! I spent many years as a shade tree mechanic, which is too funny since I’m quite the opposite now. New cars are beyond my knowledge and FL is just too hot for all that. Or maybe it’s that I’m just a bit older now and can’t hang :) Thanks for passing on the award, I am really honored that you named me.

Hi Angie, I found you through Kathy’s ARE YOU HUNGRY blog after reading that you received an award from her. Trusting her judgment, I decided to stop by ….congratulations on your blog award! Your blog fills the bill for what I like to read in the blogosphere and I’m adding you to my ‘follow’ list. Stop by sometime too (I live in South Carolina, although I’m a transplant after 14 years!) I see that you also have a button, so I’ll add that as well to my sidebar. You have a BEAUTIFUL layout! And thanks for the info on all of those ‘follow’ and ‘comment’ plugins….I’ll try to figure out how to apply them to my blog. Great advice! Roz

    Kim — November 13, 2009 @ 9:20 am

I’m off work today (yeaaaaaaa) and I’m so happy to get out and visit my favorite food blogs again and now this…an award!! I LOVE IT! Thank you. So. Very. Much.

And of course, you so deserve to be awarded and lauded by others. Congratulations Angie!!

And I loved reading your seven “unknown things.” I can now see you so much more clearly. I shouldn’t be surprised that you love working on cars. You seem like you’d be mechanically, mathematically and logically inclined since you’re also so good at both coding and baking. So now I’m wondering if you’re also musically inclined, which sort of falls in line with all of your other cerebral tendencies.

I also love the Do Follow idea. I’ll give it a shot.

    @Kim,
Good to hear from you! I was going to tell you that I sort of have musical inclinations, I took some piano lessons as a kid, and still have my piano, but I never took the time it takes to be any good. I can barely play now. I can’t sing, but can hear that I produce the wrong note, but have difficulty finding it. I admire those few people that can sing or play an instrument note for note after hearing a piece. I have one high school friend that does that pretty well, although it takes him a few tries. Its such an amazing talent. My hubby use to be good at the French horn in high school. Both his paternal grandparents were music teachers. His grandfather played the trumpet, and grandmother played the oboe (spelling?) in a symphony orchestra. I have an uncle who made money as a musician in his band way back when, so I am curious to see what our son’s interests and talents might be.
